Starting the Fashion Month with the oh-so excited New York Fashion Week 2024. It is always creative, innovative and cool. The shows brought out the newest Fall Winter collections and everything is very exciting! New trends are spotted.
My favourite shows were Proenza Schouler, Anna Sui, Carolina Herrera, Brandon Maxwell and Michael Kors Collection. I wrote an in dept blog about the Proenza Schouler FW24 show, check that out as well!
Anna Sui
Inspired by classic literature Anna Sui presented a collection that reminds one of academia and libraries. Add Victorian shoes, argyle-printed socks.
The first delivery of the collection is based on Miss Marple out of Agatha Christies mystery novels.
The blue delivery was inspired by Virginia Woolf’s book covers with knit sweaters, ombre plaid, corduroy and black-cream accents.
Then the last capsule was eveningwear, exuding London 30’s nightclubs.
The whole collection reminds me of England, the colour palettes, plaided prints, Victorian heels and use of velvet fabric.
Brandon Maxwell
Chic, cool and gorgeous came to mind when the models walked down the New York Fashion Week runway of the brand. Laid-back elegance and effortless are main points here, as well as soft constructions of knitwear. The designer included some of his upbringing, which we can see translated into the belts and the boots. My favourite look, the monochrome black outfit with the gold buckle belt and mini skirt.
Carolina Herrera
Floral prints, reds, black-white, and big gowns are heritage points for Carolina Herrera. They were of course spotted on the New York Fashion Week of 2024. In addition to their normal colour palette we also saw pink, purples and even a bright yellow. The models all wore slingback kitten heels, a trend that was popular in 2023 and is here to stay. A variety of dresses were seen, from mini dresses to strapless floor length gowns and princess-like ballgowns. Many of the models wore gold big earrings as well as little clutches in the previous mentioned colours.
Theory
Although Theory did not have a runway show the brand released pictures the new collection online. Minimal, elegant and easy-to-wear are the words to describe the capsule. We could also spot leopard print here and there; mary janes, matching sets and a coat. Chic wide leg trousers and knitwear are of course not missed in the Fall Winter collection. We all noticed that animal print, especially leopard is going to be a trend this year and Theory designed nice neutral pieces.
