Christmas Ballets are one the highlights of the Holiday Season. Of course I went to one myself and it was spectacular. What is more beautiful than dozens of pretty ballerinas in the most wonderful tutus and diamond tiaras?
Raymonda
This season they did not put on your average Christmas Ballet. The Nutcracker is of course iconic but there are many more festive ballets to watch. The National Opera chose to perform Raymonda. I have visited a couple of ballet shows and this was a new one for me. The ballerinas, especially Raymonda had me in awe. The décor was amazing, the music inspiring, the costumes bedazzling. The ballet as a whole was truly exceptional.
Every year I rewatch the Nutcracker to get in the Holiday mood. I would say Raymonda is also an perfect Christmas Ballet because it is festive, and exceptional well done. The music was so incredibly beautiful, no wonder why it inspired many componists.

The Outfit
One cannot go to the opera without dressing up. Going to a ballet show asks for putting on an amazing outfit. Even though there is no official dress code I always like to wear nice clothes. I choose for elegant footwear, ballet flats, mules or heels.
The dress of choice was this beautiful silk dress. The length and the material really spoke to me and it made me feel elegant. I wanted to keep everything around the dress quite simple and yet chic. I went with suede heels with round closed toes. The heels are very flattering and very comfortable to walk around with, even if you aren’t an experienced heel-walker.
Small bags are a must for ballet performances, just big enough to fit your true essentials. I went for a light blueish clutch. It is made of satin and has a fabric knot on the front. The clutch comes with a removable chained shoulder strap.
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend so it was essential to wear this necklace. I also wore my gemstone bracelet that I wear every day.
What is your favourite festive ballet to watch? I’d love to hear about it!
Love always,
Lyn
